CAB - Full Form Of CAB

The full form of CAB is “Citizenship Ammendment Bill”.

But what’s the Meaning Of CAB?

This is called the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Through this amendment bill, the Citizenship Act 1955 is set to be changed so that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christian minorities of Afganistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan could get the Indian citizenship very easily.

As far as Citizen A 1955 is concerned, it is necessary for the applicant to get military effectiveness. It is also necessary for the applicant to be staying in India since last 12 months.

At the same time, it is also continued that it has been here for 11 years out of the last 14 years.  Through amendment, the qualification is being reduced to 6 years which was earlier 11 years.

However, it is also associated with a specific situation that the applicant must be from the above mentioned six religions and three countries.

The CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019) was approved by the Parliament of India on 11th December, 2019, with 125 votes in favor and 105 votes against the bill. After the consent of the Indian President on 12th December 2019, it became an Act and named CAA.

CAA - Full Form Of CAA

CAA stands for Citizenship Amendment Act. Under this Act the Parliament of India has amended Indian citizenship for religious minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Under this, 6 communities are listed Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, and Muslims of these countries are not included in it.

The beneficiaries covered under this will be those who have entered India on or before 31 December 2014, and have faced “religious persecution or fear of religious persecution” in their countries of origin.

For these oppressed migrants, the Act has relaxed the need for natural habitat for 11 years to 5 years.

The country’s national party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) added to its 2014 election manifesto the announcement of providing a natural home for the atrocities Hindu refugees have suffered.

Such refugees came to notice when news came in the media in 2015. The government passed an order granting long-term visas to such refugees irrespective of their travel documents.

According to information provided by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), more than 30,000 expatriates have availed the facility, who are now expected to be immediate beneficiaries under the amended Citizenship Act (CAA).

NRC - Full Form Of NRC

The full form of NRC is National Register of Citizens.

As per the government of India, when India and Pakistan were partitioned, a considerable number of refugees migrated from both sides.

During partition, a large number of people migrated from Assam to East Pakistan, but their lands and properties were in Assam, due to which many of these people started coming to India.

As a result, it became difficult to know whether the person was Indian or not, between the original Indian citizens and illegal refugees.

Due to which many types of problems started to arise, the government prepared the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the year 1951 to deal with this problem.

The NRC i.e. National Citizen Register is a list created to identify Indian citizens residing in Assam. The aim is to identify illegal immigrants living in the state, especially Bangladeshi infiltrators.

For this process, a special provision was made in Assam by amending the Citizenship Act in 1986. Under this, the names of those people who are citizens of Assam before March 25, 1971 or their ancestors have been living in the state have been included in the register.

Assam is the only state in the country where NRC is applicable. The first National Citizen Register was created in the year 1951.

Every person included in the census conducted at that time was considered a citizen of the state. After this, for the past few years, there was a demand to update it once again in the state.

In fact, due to illegal infiltration from neighboring countries, especially Bangladesh, in the state for the last several decades, the balance of population there started deteriorating. Due to which people there were demanding NRC update.

I have listed down the full forms of CAB, CAA, and NRC best to my knowledge and research. If you know any other full form of these terms, do comment below and I will update the list.
