CRT Full Form
What does CRT mean? The full form of CRT is “Cathode Ray Tube“. The Cathode Ray Tube is a kind of vacuum tube in which electron beam is inflicted by phosphorescence and images are produced in the same cathode ray tube in Desktop Computer and Moniter Screen. In television, this is known by the name of Picture Tube.

Basic Components of CRT
Electron Gun:It produces a beam of electrons.
Anodes:They accelerate electrons.
Horizontal and Vertical Deflection Plates:These plates produce the low-frequency electromagnetic field needed to adjust the direction of the beam of electrons.
Fluorescent Screen:It is made up of phosphors. It emits light when electrons strike it.
Evacuated Glass Envelope:It collects or holds the entire cathode ray tube.
Working of CRT
As you have came to know the full name of CRT, CRT is called “Cathode Ray Tube”. It consists of a Vacuum Tube, which consists of one or more Electron Guns and a Phosphorescent Screen which is used in traditional computer display.
And in television, it works by moving electrons from the back of the tube to the display screen where it collides with Phosphorous.
When Electrons kill Phosphorous, they glow and appear on the screen. The color shown on the screen is made up of three lights red, green and blue, and this is often called RGB.
When a Speaker or other magnetic devices are placed close to the Cathode Ray Tube Monitor. So this interference occurs because of magnetic charges, which guide the path of electrons.
LCD and Flat Screen do not face this problem as they do not use magnetic charges. Now LCD and LED tubes are also not used, due to which they look much thinner than CRT monitors LCD monitors as compared to Cathode Ray Tube monitors.
Much better, people now prefer to use LCD compared to Cathode Ray Tube, CRT monitors are very less available in the market at the same time.
Features of CRT
The size of CRT is large and heavy.
They have better contrast ratio and offer better visibility in dark pictures. While LCD lacks to give them bright white levels.
- CRT uses a 4: 3 ratio display screen. You may have seen in traditional TV, a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen. This means that it is not able to use all the screen space. Whereas, LCD screens are very wide, meaning that they either have a small bar or none at all.
CRT is disappearing from the market. Most manufacturers have ceased production of CRT. It is very cheap and very difficult to find in the market.
